Shane has been a power skating instructor for 21 years. He currently works at the Canadian Ice Academy specializing in edge skating and off-ice training..

He spends roughly 20 hours a week teaching children 4-17 years of age 
Shane works with children of all skill levels how to improve their hockey game through; edgework, power skating, defensive training, stick handling and off-ice training. He has his National Coaching Certificate, level one certified and fair play certificate. Prior to coaching hockey he was a professional hockey player in Europe for 3 years and played one year professional roller hockey in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Strive for success:

• -Correct improper technique before continuous repitition, skating, shooting, skills.
• -Skills and speed will improve with proper technique.  Once that's accomplished, work on repetition.
• -Finally add in skating and skills under pressure  

HOLLYWOOD MOVIES, TV & COMMERCIALS      

Shane's love and passion for the game has allowed him to succeed in a career in hockey. 

In addition to playing and coaching hockey he's been featured in a few Hollywood movies, television shows and hockey commercials. He's taught Hollywood actors how to skate, including Ryan Sheckler in the Tooth Fairy. He has skated alongside Seann William Scott in Goon 2, and Justin Timberlake and Romany Malco in The Love Guru. Shane was the Hockey choreographer for the Tooth Fairy and Super Bowl Bud Light Red Light Hockey Commercial.

• TELEVISION SHOWS: Rick Mercer Report, Daily Planet.
• COMMERCIALS: Bud Light (Street Hockey & SuperBowl), Gatorade (recreation of the Sidney Crosby Canada Olympic Gold winning goal), Nike (with Jarome Iginla & Dion Phaneuf), Tim Horton’s (with Sidney Crosby), Canadian Mint

REDBULL CRASHED ICE CAREER 

Shane competed in Ice Cross Downhill (Red Bull Crashed Ice) from 2007-2015 and won the National Shootout in Quebec City, Quebec 2007, Canada in 2011 and St. Paul, Minnesota, U.S.A. in 2012. He has competed in events all over North America and Europe including Moscow in 2014. His best finishes were 23rd, 25th and 32nd (due to unfair disqualification).

In February 2013 Shane fractured his L2 vertabrae and was forced to take the remainder of the season off.  With a serious injury such as this, the organizers for RedBull Crashed Ice were amazed to see him come back to compete the following season in 2014.

Now that Shane has a son, his priorities have changed and have had to give up competing (for now)

TELEVISION

While a competitor in the RedBull Crashed Ice, Shane was selected to showed Rick Mercer how to skate down the Crashed Ice Course in Quebec City and was featured on the Rick Mercer Report television show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kv_tKjLGRC4.He was also featured on Daily Planet (Season 6, Episode 234) discussing the technical aspects of the Crashed Ice course with Alan Nursal from the Discovery Channel.
